Abs Workouts Alone Will Not Get Rid of Stomach Fat

If you have too much belly fat that you want to get rid of then you might want to know how to get six pack abs and finally get a flatter stomach. Maybe you believe that abdominal workouts are the best way of losing the excess fat from your stomach but the truth is, you don't lose belly fat by doing exercises that target the stomach area.

Nearly everyone has some extra unwanted fat in the abdominal area but so many try to burn it off by just by working on their abdominal muscles instead of focusing on the whole of their body.

They are under the misconception that different combinations of abs exercises will create the perfect workout that will finally get them the flat stomach that they want so badly. The sad thing is that so many people still believe that in order to get rid of belly fat, you need to do abs workouts every day using hundreds of reps.

The bad news is that abs exercises alone will not burn off the fat from your belly. All they will do is strengthen and tone the underlying abdominal muscles. Using abs exercises in isolation will not produce the metabolic rate increase necessary to burn off the extra belly fat covering your abs. You must implement a whole-body training program that will boost your body’s metabolism enough to produce the hormonal response that burns off the fat.

Now you might be thinking that simply doing cardiovascular workouts will produce the increased metabolic response that you need for fat burning. Unfortunately, this is still not enough. What you really need is a more intensive training program that works on the entire body, which includes resistance training, and multi-joint exercises.

A high intensity whole body training routine performed regularly, combined with a healthy, nutritious and balanced diet is the secret to losing the extra belly fat covering up your abs. In fact, some of the more difficult body exercises will strengthen the abdominals indirectly anyway in many positions.
This is much better for getting rid of the fat than abs workouts involving crunches and leg raises.

This article is not saying that abdominal exercises are useless but that they must be part of an overall exercise routine to get the most out of them. They will strengthen and tone your abdominal muscles and help your posture but they will not produce the fat loss on their own.

The most important factors for fat loss are a full body resistance training routine and a healthy balanced diet.
